KCFC was saddened to learn that Coral Street Fridge decided to move their fridge off the KCFC site this month. KCFC has been glad to provide the electric hook-up, electricity, general support, and assistance with restocking of the fridge over the last two years.
We want to be clear that the move was not our decision.
We recognize that there were varying opinions & feelings about the fridge from members and neighbors; these made it a challenge for both KCFC & Double Trellis (the non-profit organization that runs the fridge). However, we’ve been grateful to partner with Double Trellis & Coral Street Fridge and we’ve been thankful that, through our partnership, we’ve been able to extend food access for the most vulnerable. KCFC wishes Coral Street Fridge the best in their new location.
As KCFC prepares to reopen (date to be announced here soon), a main goal is to have new affordable pricing, so that our goods are accessible to all in the community. KCFC will also continue its Food for All and Flex Membership programs, making membership and products even more affordable and accessible. With the fridge gone, KCFC is looking for new partners to help donate food to those in our community who need it. If you know of a connection for this or have ideas for us, please email our General Manager at [email protected].
